I forgot how hard it was to find a good psychiatrist. I forgot for the past 8 years. Now my psychiatrist is moving out of the country. He can prescribe two medications but one isn’t covered.
My psychiatrist:
Go to your provider to request the prescription. Hopefully it will be covered.
*Goes to Kaiser.
Ah yes. NOW I remember what it’s like to have a bad psychiatrist.
In a matter of 10 minutes she managed to tell me that I have Schizoaffective Disorder, that I need not be on antipsychotics, that I lower my dose of antidepressant and increase my mood stabilizer, and that it would be difficult to work with my psychiatrist because they might disagree.
Without this medication I’ve been on, which by the way is now $1500 a month, I experience paranoia, delusions, and hallucinations: All things that an antipsychotic keeps at bay. On top of that, I’ve been mildly depressed and she wanted to decrease that dose.
This would have sent me into a break in less than a month.
I told her I was textbook Bipolar 1. That I already have a diagnosis for 11 years. She actually said, “You should do more research.”
I guess I should have done more research. More research on a more qualified psychiatrist.
